I'm Sherri but my friends call me Cherry because of my hair. I'm 16 years old and I am a Soc. Feel free to ask me anything!

Cherry nodded her head. She gigged at how descriptive Johnny was, “You sure know your friends real well huh?” She loved the fact that Johnny knew the boys so well, she could tell that he really loved his friends “I can tell how much you care for them.”“Yeah, I guess I know ‘em pretty well. I spend all my time with them. And I really do love them. They’re all I got. They’re more a family than my parents.” Johnny started thinking about the gang. He probably knew them better than he knew himself. He knew them better than his actual parents that for sure.
Cherry wondered what he meant by “They are more of a family to me then my parents” but she did not dare to ask.
Cherry wished she had friends as great as Johnny’s. “Yeah, well I wish I had friends as great as yours, one who really take and take time outta their day for you, Ya’ Know?” Cherry looked into his puppy dogs eyes and waited for his reply.
“Yeah. I know. The gang is always there for me. They help me with everything. I bet you have friends like that too. Maybe not exactly or as many but you have some.” Johnny looked at the screen. There was just some guy trying to look tuff sitting in a mustang.
“You’re thinking about my parents aren’t you. You’re confused about what I said while describing the gang.”
Cherry forced a fake smile. “No, i don’t really have any friends like yours, well maybe Marcia,” Cherry dropped the smile from her face, “And yeah I am a little confused about what you said, but you don’t have to tell me if Ya’ don’t want to ill understand,” Truth was Cherry really wanted to know what Johnny meant by what he had said.
“Marcias nice.” Johnny saw the smile fade from Cherry’s face. “I meant that… Since I was a little boy, my parents were drunks. They always try to hurt me. Mostly my dad. Whenever in home he beats me. That’s why I stay at the lot.” Johnny stated.
“Ever since I met the gang, they have watched out for me. Dal mostly. If anything even comes close to hurting me, he’s there. Ready to fight. Two-Bits
even attacked my mom once. Then there’s the Curtis brothers. Especially Pony. They always take care of me. Food. A place to sleep if its too cold or something. And Steve. He watches out for me too. He was there when I got jumped. He’s the one that went to get help. But Sodas the one that stayed with me the entire time. To make sure I was ok. Helped me stop crying. Soothed me.” There was more to the story but he felt like he was boring Cherry with this.Cherry looked at him and saw fear in his eyes, she felt tears build up in her eyes. “I wish I could do something to help. Your such a sweet kid you don’t deserve this.” She tried to hold back her tears but couldn’t and they started to pour down her face. Johnny did not need the abuse from his parents let alone the Socs.
“Maybe I do deserve it.” Johnny watched Cherry cry. “Come on Cherry. Dont cry. It’s not your fault. And I’m fine. All I have is a scar and it’s not too big. I’m alright. Please stop crying.” Truth was. Johnny hated seeing girls cry.
“No, Johnny you don’t. Why would you say that?” Cherry wanted to know what Johnny thought he deserved it, the poor kid didn’t do anything to his parents yet they use him as a punching bad.
“Maybe if there was something I did as a child that caused then to do this. Something I didn’t do.” Johnny has always taken the blame for the way his parents were. It didn’t seem to wrong. His parents blamed him for everything anyway.
“Still, that don’t them them an excuse to treat you like this Johnny, you are worth more than you think.” .
Cherry wanted him to know how much Potential she saw in him. she did not want him to think of the negative. she once had a friend that was going through similar things and killed himself, she did not want the same thing to happen to Johnny. It made her cry more thinking about it.
Soda walked out from the DX to assist with the car that just pulled up. It was a familiar car. And out jumped a familiar face. “Hey, Cherry. How are you?” Soda smiled at her and put his hands on his hips.
As Cherry pulled in to the DX she saw a familiar face, “Hey Sodapop!” She said with a smile, “I’m doing alright, so how are you Ponyboy and Darry?”
“Yeah good.” He wiped the car with his shammie. “Were all getting along, so good.” He laughed. “What can i help you with today Cherry?”
Cherry smiled her best smile, “Thats good! And I just need a tune up, that’s all,” Cherry never saw much of Soda anymore because he had dropped out of school but whenever she saw him she would always talk to him. He was a sweet kid and has movie star good looks so why not talk to him Cherry thought!
Soda smiled back at her. “Ok. sure.” He wheeled her car into the garage. Then he went back to her. “Do you want a coke or something while you wait?” She was a pretty girl, well dressed up. And she was real nice too.
She watched Soda as he wheeled her car away.
“No thanks, I ain’t thirsty” she said leaning against a gas pump. She pulled her back off the gas pump and walked a little bit closer to Sodapop.
“So Sodapop, have you been working full time, I haven’t seen you around lately.”
“Yeah i’ve been working a whole lot.” He laughed but then his face turned sour. “I used all my money bailing Steve out of jail the other day.” He looked down and smiled again. “So i need to work a little more so i can get my own car, instead of usin Darrys’ y’no?”
Cherry smiled, “Thats too bad. Hey my dad is looking for some help down at his car dealer ship, he pays good, I can put a good word in for ya if you want?” She knew her Dad would not like a Greaser working for him but she might as well try.
“Your dad? As in Valance Motors? Nah, I don’t think I would fit in on that side of town, if ya know what i mean.” He shook his head. “The DX pays ok… Thanks anyways, Cherry.”
She smiled at him a little, “Oh, alright, well you know if you ever decide you need more money just come talk to me and ill see what i can do!” Cherry didn’t believe that the DX Payed well, but maybe it was because she was a Soc.
She was probably right. The DX only payed him enough to get by. He thought about it. If he could make it in the Soc world, he could make it any where. He looked at his feet. “Actually, can you take me to have a look at it?” As soon as he said that he wished he didn’t.
She looked at him and smiled. “Sure, my Dad would love some help around that place. When are you done your shift? I could take you there right after you get off.” Cherry knew he regretted asking but she just wanted him to have good money to help Darry out.
Dallas Winston: @Cherry Valance
Dallas groaned as he woke up on the wooden bench, that was the last time he was going to sleep like that. He stretched out as he sat up, he yawned and scratched his head. His hair was stuck out in all directions, but Dallas could care less. Looking around there wasn’t to many people at the park,…
Cherry woke up that morning and wasn’t feeling too hot, she knew she shouldn’t have gone to that party. She could barley remember anything, Cherry usually didn’t drink. She got up got dressed and decided to go to the park to get some fresh air. When she got to the park she walked pass a boy sleeping one the bench, she just ignored him and went to sit by the fountain. She sat there for about 10 Min. bored until she looked over and saw the boy on the bench had got got and started vomiting. Cherry decided to go help him, as she got closer she noticed he was a dangerous looking Grease. “Oh great.” she mumbled, but she can not turn around and walk away now since she was already half way there.
Dallas didn’t see the person’s face but he recognized that flaming red hair anywhere, it was that Soc Cherry Valance; He remembered seeing her at the party last night, but that was all that came through to him. He wiped his mouth encase there was any left-over vomit sitting on his face, and sat up. He watched her getting closer, and it seemed like she regretted coming over to him, Dallas chuckled “I may be sick, but I’m going to have some fun with this” He thought to himself.
She walked up to the bench and stood there, Dallas raised his eyebrow at her. He felt as if he was going to throw up once again, Dallas cleared his head and tried not to think about the aching feeling in his stomach. Dallas cleared his throat and waited for her to speak.
When Cherry got to the bench she saw a familiar looking boy, she knew he had went to the party last night too but could not remember his name. Cherry regretted going over to see if he was alright but since she was already there she thought she might as well help. The boy cocked his eyebrow then cleared his throat hinting to her that he was not going to be the one to talk first. So Cherry sucked it up and said,
“H-hey, You don’t look so hot, do ya’ need anything?” She said somewhat stuttering on her words. She stood there and studied his face as she waited for his reply.
Dallas studied her face and grinned “Well…If you don’t mind I-” He stopped in mid-sentence and grabbed his stomach again, he blinked a few times to clear his blurred vision and started to feel sick; swallowing he felt himself gag a little. Dallas’s eyes widened and he quickly turned away from Cherry and threw up once again. Laying his head against the bench he closed his eyes “I think this is what death feels like…” He mumbled quietly hoping that that girl in front of him wouldn’t hear
“…Unless you can make this pain go away…I’d say no” He opened his eyes to look at her “I don’t know if you remember me, but I’m Dallas Winston”
“I’m Sherri, but you can call me Cherry. You were at Buck’s last night right? You look familiar” Cherry said happily. she sat down beside him and looked at him. She thought he was a handsome boy, he had dangerous eyes and dark brown hair but she wondered if he had a sweet side to him, one that was willing to keep a girl, hold her in his arms, stay up and talk with her all night. “I doubt it” Cherry thought to herself. She looked at the ground then back at Dallas and waited for his reply.
“Great to meet ya, and yeah I was at the party last night.” He was quiet as he watched her look at the ground. “If she was at the party, she might remember something you don’t” He thought to himself “Well…Maybe you can help me” He said to her, we stared intently at her and decided to tell her “You were at the party so, if ya don’t mind…Tell me anything you can remember hot-stuff” He grinned at her.
Cherry looked up at him. She knew he was trouble from the second she saw him. She could feel herself blush when he called her ‘hot stuff’.
“Well to tell ay’ the truth Dallas I don’t remember much either, I do remember some things but its kinda a big blur,” Cherry stopped to think about last night then she started to remember.
“Well, I remember being the only soc, but I’m not sure why I even went to the party. Anyways I remember some dangerous but handsome lookin guy hitting on me, then we went up to his room and he got me real boozed up and…” She trailed off and tried to think but could not remember what happen after that. “Well, thats all I can remember. Now maybe you can help me, what do you remember?”
Dallas eyed her coolly as he listened to her say what she remembered “Well, not much. I do remember going to the party then I got really drunk…” Dallas trailed off as he tried to remember last night “…I remember something about some girl…I don’t know, I can’t remember much.” He broke away from the memory in his head; forever to be lost, and looked at Cherry, he thought she was good looking for a Soc; He remembered hitting on her that night the Soc died…
“Sorry I’m not any help, now I gotta go swipe some pills for this headache” He stood up and started to walk away, he stopped and turned back to her. “You wanna come? You can have the rest of pills once I get some, I won’t be needin’ all of’em” Dallas offered and waited for Cherry’s reply.
Cherry thought if it was a good idea to go with Dallas, she decided it was not a good idea but was going to go, she had a bad headache anyways so some pills would help.
“Sure, I guess ill go with ya’ if you are ok with that?”Cherry walked up to Dallas then they started to make their way to the drug store.
“Damn, my head hurts like hell!” She said rubbing her forehead. As they walked, she tried hard to remember anything about last night, and especially who it was that boozed her up.
“I don’t mind, company could be nice.” Dallas chuckled at her and pulled out a cigarette, he lit it and took a long drag; it helped with his headache a little. “It won’t take to long to get to the shop from here…” He said aloud.
Dallas looked over at the red-head and noticed her thinking hard about something. “What’s she worryin’ so much about?” He thought to himself “Hey Cherry, what’s botherin” you so much?” He questioned and waited for her reply.
Cherry snapped he head quickly to look at him and was a little shocked that he cared about what was on her mind. “Oh, nothing, I just really want to know what happened last night.” It was really starting to bother Cherry that she couldn’t remember what happened the night before.
“But the one thing i really wanna know is who got me all boozed up. I really don’t drink much.” She said looking back at the ground.
” I can pay for ya if you want?” Cherry thought it was the least she could do. “And I hope its some Paul Newman movie! He is a great actor don’t ya think?” Paul Newman was one of Cherry’s Favorite actors, her room was filled with posters of him, The Beatles and Elvis.
“No it’s fine. I’ll pay. I like Paul Newman. Pony Loves him.” As they approached the Stand to get in Johnny took out his money. He gave it to the man behind the counter and walked In with Cherry.
“Please don’t let the gang be here” Johnny thought. He didn’t want the gang to make fun of him for hanging around a Soc.
Cherry smiled big, “Oh yeah, Ponyboy Curtis right? I think I have met him once or twice. He is a sweet Boy”
As they walked in Cherry heard the yelling voices of the boys who were harassing Johnny, ‘Great’ Cheery thought she has had enough drama for one night.
“Yeah that’s him.” Johnny was remembering the time they first met Cherry. He was with Pony and Dallas. then T-wo-Bit cane over.
He turned around as he heard the people’s voices from earlier that day. “Oh no” he thought. “They’re here too.”
Cherry smiled and remembered that she has met Johnny before as well. “Hey, haven’t we met before?” Cherry said looking at him, he looked a little worried, but she thought he would be fine. He was still probably shaken up from earlier that night she thought.
“Uh, Yeah. A few weeks a go I was up here with Dallas and Ponyboy.” Johnny remembered all the bad things that had happened that night. Stabbing Bob. Running to Windrixville. He was just glad everyone was ok.
“Oh right, that was the night Bob got stubbed.” The smile dropped from her face and her eyes to the ground as she remembered everything that had happened that night. Cherry still had nightmares about Bob being stabbed and she hated when people brought it up.
“Yeah. Hey, I’m really sorry about that. It was my fault. It was just…” he didn’t know how to put it. “It I didn’t Ponyboy would’ve been dead. I didn’t want to but Pony’s my friend. I’m really sorry.” Johnny was now looking at the ground. He was mad at himself for what he put Cherry through.
Cherry looked at Johnny and those big puppy dog eyes of his. “No its fine, I’m fine,” She lied. “I would have done the same thing if my friend was in trouble. Hey, and at least ya’ didn’t kill Bob.” That part was true, she would have done the same thing if her friend was in danger, or anyone for that matter.
“You’re Lying. I can tell.” Johnny could always tell when someone was lying. “But yeah, im glad i didnt kill him. I really am sorry.” He could only wonder how Cherry must’ve felt when she heard about Bob.
Cherry stopped and stood there and thought about how Johnny must have felt knowing he almost killed somebody. Cherry felt like she was going to cry. “No, I’m sorry for Bob always picking on you Greasers,” she felt a tear roll down her cheek and quickly whipped it and turned her head so Johnny wouldn’t see that she was crying.
“No don’t cry. Please don’t. I hate when people cry.” Johnny was trying to get her to stop. He rubbed his hand up and down her back. “Come on, cheer up!”
Cherry turned back Johnny and whipped away her tears. It was silent for a few minutes until Cherry spoke, “Johnny, why are you being so nice to me?” Truth was she was very confused, she thought any other greaser would just let her stand there and cry, except for maybe Sodapop And Ponyboy.
“Why shouldn’t I be? I mean you saved mr from the Socs. I also don’t believe in being mean.” Johnny couldn’t think of a time he’s ever been mean to someone. “I guess I’m just a genuinely nice person.”
Cherry smiled “Well let me tell you that you are Johnny, don’t let anyone change you!” they continued walking. Cherry looked down at her watch, “We better hurry if we wanna catch the next movie!” She said quickly.
“I promise not to change of you promise not to change, if you promise to help a greaser whenever you can. You could be the one to change the social class separation.” Johnny looked up at Cherry, then quickly looked away.
Johnny started speed walking to catch up to her. They got to the seat just as the movie was starting. They were in the same seats they were in weeks earlier when they first met each other.
Cherry thought for a while, she could have a chance to stop the whole Greasers and Soc thing. “I promise, You know, i hate going along with what my friends do and what society tells me to do.”
Cherry sat down next to Johnny and remembered sitting there when they first met.
“Then why do you do it?” Johnny asked. “Why don’t you just do what you want?” He knew part of the answer, but he wanted to know Cherrys response.
Johnny looked around. Trying to see if anyone from the gang was there. Nobody he recognized. “We’re good.” he thought.
“Its just… well I don’t know. To be accepted I guess.”
Cherry looked around there was not very many people there that night, but she didn’t care who was there and who was not. Cherry at that moment decided it was time to live her own life and not the life that her friends and society made her live.
She turned to Johnny, “If your friends saw you here with me right now what would they say, what would you say to them?”
“Well, it depends on who it is.” Johnny started. ” If it was Dal or Pony I would say ‘You remember Cherry, she saved me from getting jumped earlier and then I brought her here as a thank you.’ If it was Two-Bit, he’d be too drunk to do anything so I’d be like ‘Two-Bit, This is my friend Cherry, remember her?’ Then if it was Soda or Darry, i would say, ‘Guys, This is Cherry, I met her a few weeks ago, but today she saved me from getting jumped again, so I decided it’d be nice to take her to a movie.’ Then there’s Steve. If it were Steve, I would go, ‘Steve, I don’t give a shit if she’s a Soc. She helped me earlier today, so as a thank you, I brought her to a movie!’ If that answers your question.” Johnny thought about the last thing he said. ‘If that answers your question?’ it sounded so rude.
Cherry nodded her head. She gigged at how descriptive Johnny was, “You sure know your friends real well huh?” She loved the fact that Johnny knew the boys so well, she could tell that he really loved his friends “I can tell how much you care for them.”
“Yeah, I guess I know ‘em pretty well.
